2024 Focus on Climate and Biodiversity We need your input Here we are at the start of a new year – with new opportunities and challenges. Your LISW Committee wishes you a good year ahead. Following the conclusion of COP28 and Biodiversity Net Gain now a legal requirement, Landscape Architects need to play a pivotal role in working to transition to climate adapted and biodiverse landscapes. There is so much opportunity for the profession to help drive good practice and collaboration, working jointly with ecologists, arboriculturists, masterplanners, engineers and architects. We will be structuring our events programme for 2024 around the topics of climate change and biodiversity, to help Landscape professionals design for climate adaptation and mitigation, shape their businesses to be more resilient and get to grips with Biodiversity Net Gain. How to create your Climate Action Plan 20 February 2024, 10-11am, Virtual – Book now! This webinar will explore how businesses can create effective Climate Action Plans to support their journey towards net zero and climate adaptation. The climate and ecological crises have become a major focus for organisations of all kinds. The easiest way to be accountable for your ambitions and ensure action is strategic and lasting is to create a climate action plan. A climate action plan outlines the nuts and bolts of how to make changes within your organisation and is key for turning ambition into concrete change. It is a living document that should be developed and updated over time. However, it can be difficult to know how to get started and what is important to include. In collaboration with Bristol Green Capital Partnership, and supported by Landscape Architects Declare, LISW invites you to a webinar on Tuesday 20th February at 10am to learn how to create or update an existing climate action plan and discover how others have approached this. The webinar will include a presentation from James Bumphrey, Director at Greengage, and case studies from Churchman Thornhill Finch and LDA Design. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and connect during the webinar. To facilitate the webinar, capacity is limited, so please book your place as soon as possible. |
