The Architects Benevolent Society (ABS) has launched an urgent appeal for regular donations to help them continue to support landscape architects and their families in times of need

The Architects Benevolent Society (ABS) are welcoming donations to help them support their beneficiaries during the cost of living crisis.

As a registered charity, ABS has for over 170 years supported the landscape and architecture communities. They help practitioners, students, and their dependents with money and debt, mental health and wellbeing, physical health and disability, employment, and housing.

As the cost of energy, fuel, and household basics pushes inflation to a 40-year high, ABS has seen increasing demand for their services. The charity has launched an urgent appeal for regular donations so they can continue to support people in times of hardship.

Changes to Universal Credit and the increase in National Insurance contributions are hitting vulnerable families hardest. ABS reports that low-income households could be spending more than 50% of their income on energy. Regular donations allow ABS to budget ahead of time and help as many people as they can, as effectively as possible.

#Time2Sketch

This year, ABS are allocating all proceeds from their popular annual sketching competition, Time2Sketch, to their cost of living crisis appeal.

Taking place online at midday on Thursday 8 September, the competition asks participants to spend an hour creating a drawing on a specific theme, which ABS reveals on the day. A panel of judges – this year LionHeart, Amy Francis-Smith, and David Gilhooley – award prizes for the three most imaginative and creative works. A selection of sketches will also appear in the Time2Sketch colouring book.
